Penang Reading Celebration 2004: Update
Quick update on the Penang Reading Celebration 2004 and its events:- Lat and Karim Raslan are confirmed to appear. Lat will host a dialogue on 7 July 2004 at the Penang State Library at Scotland Road after the launch of the Celebration.
- Karim Raslan will talk about his travels throughout South East Asia and Indonesia during the recent elections on 9 July 2004 at The Bookshop, Penang.
- There will be numerous events for children and teenagers: Storytelling sessions, drawing competitions, lightning maths competition, poetry workshops, and English Literature workshops. There will also be a talk conducted by Dr Irene Lee and Sherine Selvarajah on how children learn to read and what to do in case of reading difficulties.
- Also scheduled is a talk by Dr Henry Barlow titled "Lady Swettenham's Revenge". Dr Barlow is the author of Swettenham. No, I don't know what the talk is s about either, you'll have to drop by and listen!
